大手企業がスタートアップと協業・出資などを目的とし、オープンイノベーションの一環として期間限定で行われるプログラム。
※Batch（バッチ）とは
「ひとかたまり」や「一区切り」という意味。
大きいかまどで“一括り”で小さいパンをいくつも焼く、というところからこの“一括り”をBatchと呼ぶ。Plug and Play では12週間を一つのBatch として年に2回プログラムを実施。

Summer/Fall 2019 Batch では、新しいテーマとしてBrand & Retail プログラムが開始となります。
3ヶ月に及ぶ選考プロセスを経て、今回は5テーマで69社のスタートアップを採択することになりました。

Plug and Play は革新的な技術やアイディアを持つスタートアップを大手企業とともに支援していく世界トップレベルのグローバル・ベンチャーキャピタル/アクセラレーターです。

2018年11月〜2019年3月期に実施したアクセラレーションプログラム 「Batch 2」では、 4業界（IoT、Fintech、Insurtech、Mobility）において、公式パートナーである国内大手企業22社と共に、国内外併せて59社のスタートアップを支援しました。成果発表会であるEXPO（一般的にDemo Dayと呼ばれるもの）では、2日間を通して53社のスタートアップが3ヶ月間の成果を発表、1,533名が参加しました。

また、2019年9月18日（水）・19日（木）の2日間に渡って、今回のSummer/Fall 2019 Batchの3ヶ月間の成果を発表するDemo Day、Summit（サミット）を開催いたします。

Plug and Play Japan has selected 69 domestic/overseas startups for Summer/Fall 2019 Batch

Plug and Play Japan KK (Japan office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Representative: Phillip Vincent, Hereinafter called; Plug and Play Japan) has selected 69 startups in 5 verticals (IoT, Fintech, Insurtech, Mobility and Brand & Retail ) together with 29 large domestic corporate companies for the Summer/Fall 2019 Batch acceleration program, which will be carried out from June 2019 to September 2019.

Plug and Play is the world’s leading global venture capital/accelerator which supports startups with innovative ideas and technologies together with large corporations. Plug and Play Japan was incorporated in July 2017 as a base of business development in Japan. Former acceleration program, “Batch 2”, we supported 59 domestic and overseas startups together with 22 large domestic corporate companies as official partners.
In the EXPO, which is the achievement presentation (commonly called Demo Day), 53 startups announced the results for 3 months through 2 days, 1,533 people participated.

What is the “acceleration program” that Plug and Play provides
It refers to a 3-month program (this unit is called “Batch”) to provide support for domestic and overseas startups develop globally, focusing on 5 verticals (IoT, Fintech, Insurtech, Mobility, and Brand & Retail) together with official partners of Plug and Play Japan.

Startups have access to official partner resources and opportunities to collaborate with a wide range of large corporate companies. Additionally, startups interested in developing their business globally have the opportunity to work with our Silicon Valley mentors, including pitching their ideas at our headquarters and access to the global market.  The startups that are selected for the program can also use our co-working space at our Shibuya office in Tokyo for free during the program period. We try our best to create a supportive environment for startups to focus on their business development during the program.

Participating corporate partners are provided with opportunities such as one-on-one meetings, deal flow sessions (business matching) and networking with strictly selected domestic and overseas startups.

We accelerate the community by building communication between startups and large corporate companies using Plug and Play Shibuya, the event and co-working space. We will also create the startup ecosystem in Japan through our acceleration program and events.
